Jacob Matthew (Jake) Leonard

Born October 14, 1998 in Winchester, VA

Earned his wings June 7, 2014 in Purcellville, VA

Jake came to us as a gift from our daughter when he was about 8 weeks old and we welcomed him into our hearts, lives and family in December 1998.

He was crazy about his long walks with Dad and his car rides and definitely knew which one he was about to receive. Leash meant walk and keys meant ride and he would be waiting at the door as soon as you picked one of them up.

Brutus Leonard

Born:  January 14, 1998 in Doswell, VA

Death:  July 12, 2014 in Leesburg, VA

He welcomed me as his Dad on June 26, 1998 and has been my best friend ever since.

Whenever I was home he wanted to be close to me at the very least in eye site, he wanted to watch over his daddy.

In his early years he enjoyed long walks and guarding his domain, which he considered everything he could see from his yard to be his to guard.

Stewart Varnau

January 9, 2011 – June 9, 2014

Rescued from a horrible back yard breeder in 2011 and taken to the Esther Boyd Animal; Stewart was soon adopted by Catherine Varnau.

Stewart loved to snuggle and go for car rides, especially when he could sit on the dashboard and see the big world around him.   His favorite treat was frozen marshmallows.

Catherine’s favorite memory is when she took Stewart with her to get her hair and nails done for senior prom; he sat on her lap for hours and never moved.  He just loved being with his human mommy.

Fluffy Grew

September 2, 1996 – January 21, 2014

It is unknown where Fluffy was born; however the Neff-Grew family adopted him from the SPCA for their daughter, Whitney.  For 18 years, the Grew’s loved and cared for Fluffy; he became permanent in their hearts for eternity.

Bandit Ashbaugh

Born June 28, 1999 in Orange County, Virginia and adopted on August 20th to his forever family, Bandit became the love of Tom and Kristi’s life.  He was their first child.

Frankie Goodman

One fall day, more than 13 years ago, an abandoned puppy bounded into our lives. A friend that knew we were looking for a pet dog called us after she found him roaming around in her neighborhood.  Although we wanted to get another small lap dog, right away we fell in love with Frankie, a mixed-breed black lab.  We weren’t the only ones. Frankie was easy to love. Every person or dog he encountered was immediately a newfound friend and someone he wanted to play with. When we were out on our daily walks, kids in the neighborhood would call out to him, “Hey Frankie.”

Missy Ashcraft

Her estimated birth was June, 2003.  She came into our lives because someone had dumped her out on the side of the road in North Carolina. On Bev's way home from work, she saw a pretty little gal sitting on the side looking back and forth, as if waiting on her owner to come back.  Bev stopped the car, said "okay little missy girl come on" and the rest was history.

Missy loved to play with her sister, Mallory, and get belly rubs.  The only award she won was the key to our hearts.

Dharma Ashcraft

Born June 1, 2000 in Michigan and dropped off at 3 months old in a box on the doorway of a vet's office.  Beverly Ashcraft was taking her dog to that exact vet’s office for an exam, when she saw and fell in love with Dharma.  She joined their family and filled their home with her love, sweetness and the beauty of her wagging tail.

Dharma loved carrying her stuffed animals around, especially her stuffed goat.  She earned her Canine Good Citizen Award after basic obedience class and became a therapy dog.
