Cheddar (L330) May 2005 - February 19, 2019
Explosives Detection Canine January 2008 - July 2010
National Explosives Detection Canine Team Program Class 080107B

Cheddar and Explosives Detection Canine Handler Andrew Hotinger graduated from training in March, 2008. They represented the first class of Office of Security Operations canine teams to graduate in TSA’s Cargo Screening Canine Program. The program stood up in the shadow of the attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001.

Cheddar and Andrew served on leash together at Washington Dulles International Airport until Cheddar’s medical retirement due to laryngeal paralysis. In that time, Cheddar not only helped secure the aviation sector, but also served at President Obama’s first inauguration, the G20 Summit in Pittsburgh and The Nuclear Summit in DC.

Cheddars health was maintained primarily by Animal Medical Center of Frederick County who repeatedly applied life saving measures as well as extending his life through conventional and alternative medicines.

Special thanks to Phelps Funeral Service and All Pets Cremation Center for assisting in Cheddars final needs.
